Meet your Barista & Founder
Coffee Cart No.6 was founded in 2026 Jess Ly.
A peek behind-the-scenes:
“I hand-sketched a few possible logo designs but ultimately landed on a coffee mug with steam & a heart, sitting on a cart! I liked the simplicity and at a glance, the design is pretty self-explanatory because it's a literal cart with freshly brewed coffee (that's what I do!).
Next, I uploaded my drawing to Canva to digitize it and make a more ‘official’ logo, which is the one you see on the website. I later found an Etsy shop that could turn it into an embroidered version, too.”
A note from the Founder
“From corporate to coffee, this is the beginning of my espresso era.
When I began sharing my coffee cart’s name to a few people, Coffee Cart No. 6, naturally, people were curious about the number six.
They would ask me, Why six? What does it mean to you?
To me, the number represents a turning point. In this very moment as I am writing this note, it is year 2026 and it has been six years since…
But that probably doesn’t mean much unless I explained to you what happened six years ago. Like a line marked on a measuring tape that stretches long and far, the number represents the path I’ve walked and the one I’m walking toward.
In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I was diagnosed with cancer. Life felt heavier and strangely lighter at the same time. I questioned if this was my time to go. When I was given another chance, my life philosophy circled around primarily two questions: a) does this bring me joy? and b) am I doing something that could bring joy to someone else’s life?
Six years later, in 2026, after pushing through many highs and lows, I decided to leave my corporate job to finally chart my own path.
Coffee Cart No. 6 was created.
And my cart answered ‘yes’ to both questions above.
a) Yes, starting something of my own would bring me joy and a sense of accomplishment. Coffee was the obvious choice for me because I love the flavors and it has become my personal sanctuary in a cup. And these days, we could all use a little bit of comfort.
b) And yes! I do believe that coffee has the magnetic ability to bring people together and foster connection, happiness, and storytelling. It gives us a reason to meet up with friends and a reason to stay a little longer than planned.
Coffee Cart No. 6 is more than just coffee. It’s the warm place we gather around to share stories and create lasting memories.”
